I have forgiven…

January 12, 2005

It’s like everything is somehow clear, and in focus. I can feel it for the first time in a long time… Like a weight has been lifted or a light turned on. It’s a meditation or a guidance or a counting to 4 and back again… There’s hope and positivity, and there’s an understanding of myself… There’s learning from regret and remembering to be gentle with myself and let myself understand my own mistakes. There’s the word “wrong” being deleted from my vocabulary, and understanding just what that means. There’s compassion and understanding and sympathetic musing (alone or in a crowd)… There’s me, looking forward to what’s in front me and learning from what’s behind me. Dwell, no more… I have forgiven myself, and pray for it to last.

Sad news in the comic book world…

January 6, 2005

Sad indeed…

Newsarama.com reports that comics legend Will Eisner passed away on Monday night at the age of 87 due to complications from his recent open heart surgery. Eisner worked in the comics industry almost continuously since 1936, first defining modern comic book storytelling techniques in his Spirit comic strip. Later, Eisner coined the term “graphic novel” to describe longer-form comics work and arguably wrote the first one. His latest book, The Plot, is due to be published by W.W. Norton later this year.

Eisner’s SPIRIT is soon to be a motion picture.
